Overview
The Stroop Test is a classic cognitive exercise first described by J.R. Stroop in 1935. You see color names like RED, BLUE or GREEN, printed in colored ink. Sometimes the color and the word match, sometimes they do not. Your task is simple but surprisingly hard: name the COLOR of the ink, not the word you read. In NeuraCraft, the Stroop test is adapted to touch with a row of color buttons at the bottom of the screen. Rounds are short — about a minute — so you can fit a quick session between daily tasks. Your reaction times and accuracy are stored in your brain-score history, letting you follow your own trends without any clinical claim.
How to Play
- Watch the word on the screen — for example "BLUE" printed in red ink.
- Tap the button whose color matches the INK color, not the word you read.
- Keep going through the sequence as quickly and accurately as you can.
- The round ends after a fixed number of items; your average time and error count are shown.
- Try again after a short break and see whether your reaction becomes steadier.
Cognitive Benefits
- The Stroop paradigm is a well-known way to exercise selective attention and inhibitory control — the ability to override an automatic reading habit in favor of a deliberate color choice. Short regular sessions can support everyday focus and mental flexibility, though the test is not a clinical diagnostic tool.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a medical or clinical test?
No. NeuraCraft's Stroop mode is a cognitive exercise, not a diagnostic tool. Please consult a professional for medical questions.
Who invented the Stroop test?
Psychologist J. Ridley Stroop described the paradigm in a 1935 paper. Our version adapts that idea for a modern touch screen.
Does color blindness affect the test?
Yes, it can. You can adjust the color palette in settings or try other games in NeuraCraft that do not rely on color discrimination.
